September 12, 2018
September is National Recovery Month. This observance, held September of every year, aims to raise awareness on recovery and educate Americans that recovery can become a reality. Through substance use treatments and mental health services, individuals living with a mental or substance use disorder can live healthy and rewarding lives. This observance also raises the point that people living in recovery should celebrate the progress of their recovery the same way we celebrate health improvements made by those who are managing health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and hypertension.
SafeRx Lake County, in partnership with Behavioral Health, will be attending this year’s Recovery Happens Day of Celebration event in Austin Park, Clearlake, September 15th from 10:00am-2:00pm. The day will kick-start with our opening speaker Randall Cole and lead into a short walk of support. The day will also include information on resources available within the community, a free BBQ, and a basket raffle! We will have the privilege of being joined by community members living in recovery; these individuals will share their stories and participate in the celebration of recovery.
SafeRx will have several members of the coalition in attendance, ready to answer questions regarding opioid prescriptions, safe storing practices, and resources in the community available for opioid or prescription medication disposal in the county.
We look forward to celebrating recovery with you!
